Montgomery, AL Veneering Works Fire, May 1908

Quick Work Confines Flames to Boiler Room, and Loss is Not Very Great.

At an early hour this morning the plant of the Burton veneering Works, in the western portion of the city, was discovered to be on fire.

The alarm was turned in and the Five Points station of the fire department responded promptly. On the arrival of the firemen, it was found that the boiler room was on fire, and that the entire plant was in danger of destruction. By sharp, quick work, the firemen got good control of the situation and managed to save the main portion of the structure.

The boiler room and machinery attached was destroyed. It was too late to make any estimate of the loss, but it is not thought to amount to a great deal.
