STATE CRASH FATAL TO 5.

Stapleton, Ala. (AP) - Five persons were killed and five others were injured when a truck and an automobile crashed head-on near here last night.
ARTHUR PAUL EVANS, 18, of Atmore, Ala., driver of the 2 1/2-ton truck involved in the wreck, was booked on five counts of manslaughter.
State Patrolmen J. C. Bankston and Gerald Hughes said EVANS' truck apparently smashed into the car when he attempted to pass another automobile.
Dead are:
SHERMAN E. GOLDEN, 32, Atlanta, driver of the car;
his parents, MR. and MRS. WILSON GOLDEN, both of Uriah, Ala.;
LINDA WARREN, 4, of Atlanta;
and MATILDA LAMBERT, 34, of Uriah.
All were Negroes.
The five injured were passengers in GOLDEN'S automobile. Officers said EVANS was riding alone. All of the injured were taken to a Bay Minette, Ala., hospital.
GOLDEN was en route from Mobile to Uriah to visit relatives at the time of the accident, which happened about 6:20 p.m. yesterday.
