Boydell, AR Two Car Collision, Sep 1973

SEVEN DIE IN WRECK.

Boydell, Ark. (AP) - Seven persons were killed Wednesday night in a two-car crash, which one state trooper called the worst accident he ever has investigated, have been identified.
Trooper C. E. Medford of the State Police identified the victims as: ODELL BREWER, 29; CHESTER D. MOORE; R. D. GILL, 38; MAYE HELEN WILSON, 33; MAYE DORA BREWER, 20; BARBARA ANN BREWER, 6; and DIANE CAROL BREWER, 2. All of the victims, who were in the car driven by ODELL BREWER, were from Montrose.
Medford said two witnesses told him that BREWER lost control of the car, which then skidded sideways and was struck by a northbound car on U.S. 165 at Boydell.
Boydell is an Ashley County community about four miles north of Montrose.
Two persons who were in the other car - MR. and MRS. BOBBY RAY HUDSON of Pickens - were taken to Dermott Chicot Memorial Hospital where they were in satisfactory condition late Wednesday night, a hospital spokesman said.
Two wreckers were required to recover the bodies of five of the victims who were pinned in the car, which was cut in half, Medford said.
