Belmont, CA Girl Falls From Tree, Apr 1969
GIRL, 8, DIES IN TREE FALL.
An 8-year-old Belmont girl died yesterday at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City after suffering a skull fracture when she fell from a tree while playing near her home.
Doctors made a futile two-hour effort to save the life of KATHRYN CRUSICK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick D. Crusick, 2107 Arthur Avenue.
Policeman Joseph Pierucci said the youngster was injured when she fell from a tree at the Jerome E. Schroeder residence, 2012 Arbor Avenue, about 3:45 p.m.
Coroner's Investigator Robert Cawley said KATHRYN and her brother, Mark, 6, were playing with other children at the Schroeder home. KATHRYN was climbing a small tree in a cement planter box when she fell six to eight feet, landing on the back of her head on the concrete Cawley reported.
Mrs. Schroeder administered mouth to mouth resuscitation until the arrival of an ambulance. Pierucci said the girl was unconscious when he reached the scene and never regained consciousness before her death in the hospital at 5:57 p.m.
Physicians reported that the girl suffered an occipial skull fracture.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
