SWIMMERS RESCUED IN EMERALD LAKE RACES.

Frank Quinn and Dan Foley Are Hauled From Water by Courageous Athletes.

REDWOOD CITY, May 25.--Meredith Eva, a student of Sequoia high school, saved Frank Quinn, ex-service man, from drowning during a swimming contest at Emerald lake yesterday. Quinn was seized with cramps while swimming in the 220 yard dash. Young Eva was standing on the shore when Quinn cried for help. The boy jumped in and towed swimming on his back.

Shortly after Dan Foley, a grammar school boy, became exhausted during a race and was brought to shore by Dudley de Groat, Stanford man and well-known athlete.
