Lathrop, CA Train and Truck Collision, Nov 1993

The Associated Press.
Lathrop - Three people died Thanksgiving morning when the car they were riding in collided with a Union Pacific freight train, authorities said.
No one on the train was hurt in the accident, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m., San Joaquin County sheriff's deputies said. Lathrop is about 65 miles east of San Francisco.
Authorities identified the dead only as an elderly man and two elderly women. Their names were not immediately released because relatives had not been notified, a dispatcher said.
The accident was still under investigation. It was not known late Thursday which of the victims had been driving the car.
The bar at the railroad crossing at Yosemite and McKinley Avenues was lowered when the accident occurred. The driver apparently was driving under or around the arm to cross the tracks when the car was struck, sheriff's deputies said.
