San Diego, Calif., July 1 - (AP) - One man was killed and four others injured in three separate boat explosions here in 24 hours.
LOUIS P. ROBINSON, 56, of San Bernardino, Calif., was killed when an explosion and fire destroyed the fishing boat HUSTLER last night.
WAYNE BROWNING HAYS, 26, and GENE GREGOR, 23, both of Bloomington, Calif., also aboard the HUSTLER, were burned on their faces, arms and chests. Both are expected to recover.
ROBINSON, who formerly lived in Rockford, Ill., was on deck when the boat ripped apart under them. ROBINSON'S chest was crushed by the blast.
Wreckage of the HUSTLER was scattered
as far as 300 yards.
Fire Capt. Ed Martin said gas which must have leaked from a butane cook stove and collected in the galley ignited when GREGOR struck a match to light the stove.

A fuel explosion split open the 30-ft. jig boat MELTON last night and it sank in the harbor. WESLEY L. SAWYER, 64, of Minneapolis, only man aboard, was seriously burned.
