Indio, CA (near) Two Car Crash Kills Four, Oct 1959

TWO-CAR CRASH KILLS 4 WOMEN ON COAST.

Indio, Calif., Oct. 7 (AP) - A head-on, two-car crash about 30 miles south of here on U.S. Highway 93 killed four women and critically injured a man today.
Dead are:
MRS. IDA TAYLOR HARRIS, 65;
and MRS. ELIZABETH CURTIS BOYD, 71, both of Amarillo, Tex.;
and WANDA LOU MANN, 23;
and MARY DELORES PIAZZA, 25, both of Los Angeles.
Taken to Casita Hospital here was HERBERT EBENSTEIN, 63, of Beverly Hills, Calif. Attendants said he was so severely injured he is not expected to live.
The collision was so violent that victims were hurled into the southern California desert brush, one of them more than 100 feet, police said. The cars were demolished.
