Barstow, CA (near) Head On Crash Kills Seven, Jan 1952

SEVEN KILLED IN HEAD-ON CRASH WEST OF BARSTOW.

San Bernardino, Jan. 7 (AP) - A head-on automobile crash on a desert highway killed seven persons, including three children, last night. There were two survivors.
The terrific smash occurred on U. S. Highway 466, about 20 miles west of Barstow.
California highway patrolmen said a westbound car, believed to be returning from Las Vegas, Nev., and carrying MRS. BEULAH WILLIAMS, 41, of Venice, Calif., who was killed, and her husband, JIM, 42, and an eastbound car carrying all the other victims collided.
Deputy Coroner P. H. Evans gave these identifications of the other dead:
MRS. RUTH K. WALDRON, 25, of Shafter, Calif., and her husband, CARL A. WALDRON, 35. WALDRON had paper which also gave an address of 1916 Hall Avenue, Cochran, Calif.
MR. LORRAINE MacALLISTER, Shafter, Calif.
The three children, two girls about 4 and 7, and a boy of 2 or 3.
Evans said it was presumed that the children were of the Waldron or MacAllister families, or both, but definite identification could not be made of them immediately.
WILLIAMS and the other survivor, PHILIP R. MacALLISTER, husband of one of the women killed, were in too critical a condition to be questioned. MacALLISTER was hospitalized here; WILLIAMS, at Barstow. Bodies of the dead were taken to the O'Donnell mortuary in Barstow.
