Walden, CO Airplane Crash in Blizzard, Dec 1978
Throughout the night, with high winds dragging the temperature far below zero and reducing visibility down to a few feet at times, searchers from three counties and the Colorado Civil Air Patrol concentrated on reaching the transmitter signal.
The search was concentrated in an area west of Walden, 110 miles northwest of Denver and 25 miles south of the Wyoming border. A range of 10,000-foot plus mountains separates Steamboat Springs from Walden and a broad valley called North Park, although it is but about 15 miles by air between Steamboat Springs and Walden, WALSH said.
