Decatur, Alabama Storm

March 28, 1902

DECATUR Ala., March 28 -- A severe wind and rain storm accompanied by hail struck this place this afternoon, lasting one hour.  Great damage was done.  All northbound Louisville & Nashville trains are laid out here indefinitely, owing to the washouts and wrecked bridges.  Haywood Roberts, a white man and Tom Evans, colored, were killed by live electric wires which were blown down.

The Nebraska State Journal, Lincoln, NE 29 Mar 1902
