Biggs, California Fire
August 18, 1878
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 18. -- A dispatch
from Biggs, Butler County, says that a fire
there this morning destroyed 19 buildings, all
business houses except two. Loss, about
$51,400; insurance, $63,200. Several
arrests have been made of persons suspected of
having started the fire, which originated in an
unoccupied building.
