Flouring Mill Fire

Ca Visalia flouring mill fire Apr 1893
FLOURING MILL BURNED.
Special to the Gazette.
Visalia (Cal.), April 28.--This morning
at 3:30 o’clock the Visalia flouring mill
property, owned by J.
M. Fox, was totally destroyed by
fire. Loss, $40,000; insurance, about $20,000.
It was undoubtedly incendiary.
Charles Dodson,
sleeping in the third story, had a narrow
escape, having to jump from the second story.
This is the fourth fire for Fox in twenty
years--the first a planing mill, the next the
city water works and a second time for the mill.
The loss to the city is severe. The mill was a
four-story frame building, containing the most
improved roller press machinery.
