SWEPT BY THE FLAMES
IOWA TOWN ALMOST WIPED OUT BY A FIRE
Lightning Starts a Blaze in Bradyville Which
Destroys One- Half the Village --
Clarinda, Ia., Oct. 1. -- The north half of
Bradyville was destroyed today. Lightning
started a fire that destroyed
Worley's
restaurant, White's
dry goods store, the postoffice,
Fine & Maxwell's
Hardware and Implement company,
Hilton and
Gray's hardware
and Implement store,
Mrs. Davidson's Millinery store and
dwelling, the Times printing office, the bank
and other buildings across the street. The loss
is $60,00 [sic] and the insurance $25.000.

North Half of the Business Section of the Town
is Destroyed
Clarinda, Oct. 2.-- The north half of the
business portion of Bradyville was destroyed by
fire yesterday. The fire started in
Fine & Maxwell's
hardware store. Lightning is supposed to have
been the origin. Worley's
restaurant, White's
dry goods store, the postoffice, Fine &
Maxwell's hardware and Implement store and
IIolton [sic] & Gray's
hardware and implement store were destroyed.
Several other buildings were damaged. The loss
is estimated at $60,000; insurance, $25,000.
