Manly, Iowa Fire

Mason City, Ia., Dec. 12. -- Fire starting
at noon today threatens to destroy the town of
Manly, eight miles north of here and firemen on
a special train have been rushed from here to
fight the flames. The fire was spreading
at 1 o'clock and had already destroyed
Clemens'
bakery, Curtis' restaurant,
McCarthy's millinery
store and Mitchell dry goods store.

Fifteen thousand dollars' worth of business
property in Manly was destroyed by fire that
broke out shortly after noon Friday in the
Clemmer bakery and restaurant. The
following property burned:
Mitchell
general store, McMurtle millinery store,
Clemmer
bakery, Parker restaurant, and several small
buildings.

Manly Junction had a fire early Friday
morning which threatned to destroy the town.
The fire company from Mason City was called.
Among the buildings destroyed were a grocery
store, bakery, barber shop and rooming house.

Fire Loss at Manly
Manly. -- With hose attached to
railroad water tanks, and bucket brigades
hastily organized, the fire which broke out here
was controlled after a block of business house
on the north side of Main street had been
destroyed.
