Banana Crate Factory Fire
June 1904
Serious Fire at Washington
The other day a fire broke out in the banana
crate factory in the northeastern part of
Washington, and before the flames could be
subdued a half block of buildings were consumed
and thousands of dollars of loss sustained.
The crate factory with all of its machinery was
a total loss. The residences of
Will Ross and
Fred Long, and packing and storehouse, barn and
wagon sheds, etc. belonging to
Scott Roister
were also consumed. Most of the household
property was saved from the dwellings in
reasonably good condition. There was on
insurance on any of the buildings or other
property consumed, an the origin of the fire is
unknown.
