Clarinda, Iowa Lightning Strike,
May 23, 1903
Carinda
[sic], Ia., May 25 -- During an electrical storm
Friday night John Cons of this city was truck by
lightning and instantly kiled
[sic]. He went to
a window to pull down the shade and the bolt
passed through his right shouder
[sic] and downward
through the body. His 7-year-old son was
badly shocked and it is feared will not recover.
Several other occupants of the house were
rendered unconscious by the shock.

Electrical Storm.
Clarinda, Ia., May 23 -- During an
electrical storm last night,
John Coons of this
city was struck by lightning and killed.
His seven-year-old son was severely shocked and
may not recover. Several other occupants
of the house were rendered unconscious, but
recovered.
