Charleston, Illinois Train Wreck

May 24, 1903

CLOVER LEAF TRAIN WRECKED IN ILLINOIS

St Louis, May 20.--A special to the Post-Dispatch from Charleston, Ill., says that passenger train No. 6 on the “Clover Leaf” was wrecked there today. Three cars were overturned. Eight passengers were seriously injured. It is believed all will recover.

Three Cars of Clover Leaf Train Overturned.

St. Louis, Mo.,
--A special from Charleston, Ill., says that passenger train No. 6 on “Clover Leaf” was wrecked there at 1 a.m., today and eight passengers were seriously injured. It is thought they will recover.

The seriously injured are: J. D. Johnson, East St. Louis; Miss Maud Chandler, St. Louis; Miss Zera Belmont, Cleveland, O.; Mrs. O. B. Clark, Toledo, O.; Mrs. B. J. Harmon, Ottawa, O.; M. A. Shelman, San Francisco.

In a Wreck This Morning on the Clover Leaf.

Charleston, Ills., May 20.
-- Passenger train number six on the Clover Leaf road was wrecked at 1:00 a. m. Three cars were overturned, containing 43 passengers. Eight were seriously injured but none fatally. Among the injured are:

Miss Vera Belmont of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. O. B. Clark, Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. J. J. Harmon, Ottawa, Ohio
