Valparaiso, Indiana
Train Accident
March 9, 1913
WOMAN KILLED BY PENNSYLVANIA TRAIN
MRS. ANNA HINKEL, A WELL KNOWN CHARACTER, RUN
OVER
AT VALPARAISO, IND.
Mrs. Anna Hinkel, aged thirty, for years a
character at the town of Valparaiso, Ind., is
dead as the result of injuries she received when
she was struck by a Pennsylvania train last
night. She was found by several men who were
walking on the tracks, and died at the Christian
hospital.
According to the Valparaiso police department,
the woman had been drinking and wandered on the
tracks while under the influence of liquor. It
is not known what train hit her.
She was found close to the south rail of No. 1
track, about seventy feet west of the depot
building, and one leg was terribly mangled. An
ambulance was called and she was hurried to the
hospital, where she died early this morning.
