Cunningham, Kansas Tornado
May
18, 1898
Kansas City, May 18.--A special to the
star from Kingman, Kan., says a destructive
tornado swept over the western part of this
county last evening about 6 o'clock. The
town of Cunningham was almost swept off the
earth.
There are only five houses left standing.
The track of the storm was 200 yards wide and
everything was swept clean. People saw the
cloud about twenty minutes before it struck and
rushed to their cellars. Nobody was
seriously injured although a good deal of stock
was killed.
The Arizona Republican, Phoenix, AZ, 19
