Corinth, Kentucky Train Wreck
August 9, 1924
3 of FAMIL [sic] KILLED
COVINGTON, Ky. – (By ASSOCIATED PRESS) – The
lowering today of the coffins containing three
members of the family of
George W Johnson
of Covington who were killed late Saturday when
their automobile stalled on a rail-road track at
Corinth, Ky., as they emerged from a cemetery,
will write the final chapter into the tragic
outcome of a mourning party.
They had buried
Johnson’s step mother at Mason, Ky.,
Saturday and Johnson,
his wife and their two sons and daughter were
returning to their home when a freight train
bore down on the automobile and smashed it to
pieces.
The three will be laid to rest in one grave.
There to watch will be
Kenneth, age 11, the only one of the
party to escape.
Sitting next to his father, he jumped, and
later saw his mother, his father and his 9 year
old sister THELMA
killed and his brother
Robert, 10, seriously injured.
