Masten Park High School Fire

MASTEN PARK SCHOOL BURNS; PRINCIPAL HURT

Buffalo, March 27. -- Masten Park High
school, one of Buffalo's four big high schools,
situated at Masten and Best streets, was
completely destroyed by fire shortly after noon
today. Only one person was injured, the
fire fortunately having broken out during the
noon recess. The high school was built
about twelve years ago and was valued at
$225,000.
Frank S. Fosdick,
principal of the school, was injured. Mr.
Fosdick is the father of
Raymond Fosdick,
New York's commissioner of accounts.

Buffalo,
Mar. 28. -- In a fire at the Masten Park
high school, caused by an explosion of
chemicals, over 1,000 boys and girls filed out
in perfect order.
As the last of the line was leaving falling
bricks hit several of the pupils, but none was
seriously hurt. Principal
Frank S. Fosdick
was slightly injured.
The school building was a total loss.
It was erected at a cost of $240,000.
