Koch & Henke Store Collapse
November 23, 1910
BRICK WALLS TUMBLE DOWN; FOUR KILLED
CLEVELAND, O. Nov. 23.-Four dead and ten
injured is the toll of the collapse of the
rebuilt Koch & Henke furniture store here. Four
bodies have been removed from the mass of
concrete, iron and brick which buried the home
of SIMON FRUTKIN
and demolished the house of
WILLIAM STEIN, and it is believed the
eight persons taken out alive and the two
injured by falling bricks represent the entire
lost. The dead:
MRS. J. E. JACKEMY.
MRS. SIMON FULTKIN.
ROSALIND FRUTKIN.
THELMA FRUTKIN.
The Koch & Henke
store was gutted by
fire several months ago and had been almost
completely rebuilt on the old foundations.

CONCRETE WALL COLLAPSES
Mother, Two Children and Woman Are Crushed to
Death When Tailor Shop is Buried.
Cleveland, O., Nov. 23.-The wife of
SIMON FRUTKIN,
a tailor, his two small children and a woman
they employed were crushed to death by the
collapse of a new concrete building here.
FRUTKAN was at work in his little tailor shop,
which stood next to the concrete building. The
mother and children were asleep in a bed room in
the rear. A tremendous crash came from the
building next door and the wall that overhung
their home settled to earth, burying the tailor
shop beneath it. A passerby at the time of the
crash saw a building flash of light and the
sound that followed he says, was unmistakable
that of an explosion.
