Youngstown, Ohio Todd House Fire
October 24, 1910
Youngstown, O., Oct 24. -- Fire which
started in the basement of the
Todd House, for a
time threatened the entire structure. The
fire gained the first floor, gutted the barroom
and cloakrooms and had started in the elevator
shaft before it was put under control. The
damage was $10,000. Immediately after the
fire started, C. J. and John O'Brien and
John
McGovern were arrested with $2,000 worth of
jewelry on them, identified as taken from the
hotel. The rapidity with which they go to
work causes the police to suspect that they
might have set afire to loot the hotel.
