On Friday night another destructive tornado,
which originated near Anderson, Ind., swept over
a section of Ohio, including Seneca, Hardin,
Wyandot, and Mercer counties, doing immense
damage in the destruction of life and property.
The wires were crippled in all directions and
news only received from larger towns.
John DURBIN,
a farmer near Celina, took refuge with his
family in the cellar. The house was demolished
over their heads and mass of timbers came down
upon them. Mr. DURBIN,
who is a man of great physical strength, held up
a section of the roof which was about to crush
them, while his wife and four children crawled
safely from under; but the tremendous exertion
of DURBIN so prostrated him that his own life
was in danger.
