Findlay, Ohio Tornado
May
23, 1893
CLEVELAND, May
24. Dispatches indicate that the entire
northwestern portion of the state was swept by
the storm. At Findlay the brick building of the
Bell Pottery
company was partially wrecked, the roof being
carried away and the wall crushed in. Two
hundred employees had a narrow escape. The Model
Glass factory and the Salem Wire Nail works were
unroofed. The houses of
W. H. Howard and
Herbert Broome were wrecked, the wife
and children of Broome
being rescued with difficulty. Hundreds of oil
barracks were blown down. The loss will reach
$60,000.
