BROWNSVILLE SUFFERS LOSS
OF OVER $300,000
Fire Last Evening
Followed by More Disastrous One Today.
SEVERAL BUILDINGS BURN
Fire which last evening
damaged the store of
Harry Levy in the
Sharpnack building
at Brownsville, broke out again this morning
at 5 o’clock and destroyed a number of
buildings, causing loss estimated at over
$300,000. The losses included:
Harry Levy building, three stories,
$100,000, about half covered by insurance.
Sharpnack & Connelly building, three
stories, $125,000: insurance, $100,000.
Wolfe & Paul building, three stories
and hardware stock, loss $65,000, $35,000
insurance.
Harry Levy stock, $45,000, insurance
$30,000.
Murphy’s five and ten cent
store $2,000.
Sharpnack & Connelly’s stock of
furniture $20,000, with $10,000 insurance
The fire this morning brokeout in an upper floor of the
Sharpnack & Connelly building, which seemed to
be a mass of flames when discovered by the watchman.
Levy occupied a part of the
Sharpnack building in addition to his own.
The fire last evening was in his own building.
Mr. Sharpnack and
Mr. Connelly are in the South. Their sons
have been in charge of the business.

HEAVY FIRE LOSS AT BROWNSVILLE
Brownsville, Pa., Feb. 22. – Fire which
threatened destruction of the
Lewis Building
last night broke out again today and spread to
two adjoining buildings causing a loss of
$50,000. One fireman,
William Herbertson, was overcome by
smoke.
