Clymer, Pennsylvania Forest Fire
Apr-May 1884
Clymer, May 2, 1884. -- The weather is
very dry, and farmers are improving the
hours in
sowing grain.
The forest fires are raging furiously in this
vicinity. The store, telegraph office,
Post-office and other buildings at the coal
mines had a very narrow escape from fires this
week. They were saved by the strenuous
efforts of miners.
The unoccupied house and barn on the farm
recently owned by A. J. Luce were destroyed by
fire this week. The timber tract of
Mr.
Alvin Griffin was also badly damaged.
