Snowshoe City, Pennsylvania Fire

A fire is raging in the woods at Show Shoe
City, where several houses, a number of cars and
trestle work are destroyed. The loss is
still given at $2,000,000.

Bellefonte, Pa., May 20. -- An extra
train left here this evening for Snowshoe with a
large body of men from the
Valentine works to
aid in the checking the fires in that region.
Mine No. 4 at Snowshoe burned. About 75
feet of trestle work of the railroad has been
destroyed. The water tanks and several buildings
along the road are on fire, and great excitement
prevails.
Later. About 13 cars have been
burned at Showshoe, and about 800 or 1,000 tons
of coal and all the houses about the mines are
destroyed. Creader's mills and a large lot
of lumber were destroyed, also a lot of lumber
belonging to the Bellefonte car works.
