Mine Accident
July
10, 1910
Miner Crushed by Runaway Cars
Was at Work When Heavily Loaded Train Broke and
Caught Him.
DIED IN THE HOSPITAL
Joe Cresos,
an Italian, was fatally injured in a mine at
Lucerne on Sunday. He was
working at the face of
a heading, loading a car of coal, when a trip of
loaded cars going out, broke away at the top of
the slope and started back into the mine.
Cresos did
not realize his danger until the cars were
almost upon him. He tried to escape into an
adjoining room, and passed in front of the car
he was loading. The runaway train hit this car
and crushed the unfortunate man against the
wall.
He was taken to the Adrian hospital on the
evening B. R & P train and died there a few
hours after being admitted.
The remains were taken in [illegible] by
Undertaker Robinson, of Punxsutawney and will be
buried by the county.
Cresos had
been in this county but a short time.
