Andrew Quinn, a Woodman, Meets With Fatal
Accident on Saturday Near Slate Run
Andrew Quinn, aged 33 years, was killed at Foot
of Mountain, four miles from Slate Run, Saturday
morning. While on his way to the woods to work
for Weed & Co. he boarded a log train on the
narrow guage [sic] railroad. At the place where
he met death, he failed in an attempt to jump on
a car, the engine then being run at a rapid rate
to switch four cars, and fell under the wheels.
His neck and back were broken and he was
generally mangled.
The remains were take to Slate Run, from
which place word of the accident was sent to the
man's parents at Compton, N.Y., and to Coroner
Goehrig. The coroner found an inquest
unnecessary, death being undoubtedly the result
of an accident for which no one was to blame.
