Fire Damage At Winfield
Half a Dozen Buildings Destroyed, with $8,000
Loss.
Mount Pleasant, Tex., July 27 – About $8,000
damage was done at Winfield by fire early today,
which destroyed half a dozen business buildings
there.

$12,000 Fire Loss
Several Business Houses Are Burned in Winfield,
Near Mount Pleasant. Total Insurance $5,500.
Special To The News.
Mount Pleasant, Tex., July 27 – Winfield,
a town eight miles from this city, suffered fire
loss amounting to $12,000 this morning. Fire was
discovered at 2 o’clock. Total insurance carried
on damaged property amounts to $5,500.
The following firms are the heaviest losers:
J. S. HOGUE,
general merchandise; loss $3,200,
insurance $2,750.
J. M. JAGGERS & SON, general
merchandise; loss $3,000, insurance $1,500.
TALIAFERRO & MILLER, groceries, loss
$2,500, insurance $1,500.
J. W. DAVENPORT, general merchandise;
loss $1,500, no insurance.
All the lodges of the town had their rooms in
the Hogue building and sustained a complete
loss, with no insurance.
