Berlin, Wisconsin Tornado
July, 1885
ABOUT BERLIN.
Berlin, Wis., July 10.--The tornado did smoe
[sic] damage in this city and vicinity. Trees
were destroyed by the hundreds and crops
leveled. H. Stedman had the east end of his ice
house bulged out by the wind. A curious freak
was played on the West Side. The roof of a shed
in the rear of F. M.
Wood’s building on the river, was
taken off, blown over
T. W. Wood’s store and landed in the
street in front, and took off a chimney. In
going over, one board went through the roof of
the store and tore a hole about three feet long.
North, west and east of Berlin, a cyclone was
experienced and much damage done.
