Elroy, Wisconsin
Tornado

July 3, 1907

TORNADO

Sweeps Over Wisconsin Thursday Night Killing Twenty-One
Cut a Swath from a Rod to a Mile Wide and 100 Miles Long
Houses, Barns and Crops Swept Away Causing Farmers Great Damage

St. Paul, Minn, July 5. -- Twenty one are now known to have been killed in a tornado which swept a path 100 miles in length from a mile to a few rods width through the counties of central Wisconsin Thursday night.

Details of the damage done by the tornado are still coming in very slowly and it is believed the death list will be somewhat larger when all points visited by the tornado are heard from.  In addition to those killed a score or more people were injured, some of them so seriously that their recovery is doubtful.  The property damage has not been accurately estimated, but undoubtedly will be more than $100,000.

The tornado passed five miles to the south of Elroy, through a rich farming country, destroying houses and barns and sweeping the crops, and many farfers [farmers] in this vicinity lost everything they possessed.

Bismarck Daily Tribune, Bismarck, ND 6 Jul 1907
