Pensacola, FL Freighthouse Fire, Nov 1897
FREIGHTHOUSES AND THEIR CONTENTS ENTIRELY CONSUMED.
Pensacola, Fla., Nov. 26. -- About $100,000 worth of property was destroyed by a fire that was started by an incendiary in the old compress building which was used by several firms as a warehouse for the storage of hay and feed stuffs.
The fire spread from the building to Clubb's lumber yard, the old freight house of the Louisville and Nashville railroad and the company's new freight house.
The latter was filled to the roof with merchandise that had been pouring in since the removal of the quarantine restrictions. All the contents of both freight depots were destroyed.
