Gooding, ID Railroad Accident, Oct 1912
RAILROAD ACCIDENT RESULTS IN DEATH OF JOHN CARY.
Short Line Brakeman Falls Between Cars at Gooding and Is Fatally Hurt.
John Cary, the young brakeman who was injured in the Gooding yards early yesterday morning and brought to Boise for hospital treatment, died last evening at 10 o'clock, following the amputation of his leg.
The engineer evidently fell between the cars while trying to couple them, and was dragged some distance, since his face was badly bruised and his leg fearfully mutilated. The flesh was filled with dirt and sand.
Mr. Cary was unmarried and lived at Pocatello. Mr. Chrisman, freight agent at Boise, notified the relatives who live in the east of the accident.
The body is at Fry & Summers', where it will remain until the relatives are heard from.
