Western Springs, IL Train Accident, Sept 1915
PROBE FREAK WRECK ON THE BURLINGTON LINE.
Western Springs, Ill., Sept. 21. -- Investigation was started today of the freak wreck of last evening when twenty-two passengers on the Missouri limited of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad were injured. A freight train, running on a parallel track suddenly buckled and a freight car was thrown onto the passenger track in front of the speeding limited. The passenger engine, mail, baggage and smoking cars were thrown from the track. The heavy steel cars remained on the rails and all the injured passengers were in the smoker.
Two years ago, at practically the identical spot fourteen persons were killed in a Burlington wreck.
