Chicago, IL Wabash Train Accident, Sept 1887

Charles Johnson, a native of Sweden, aged 21 years, employed at Armour's meat-house, boarding on Root street, near Wallace, in the town of Lake, boarded an incoming freight train on the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railway at Root street last evening, and in getting off at Thirty-third street stepped in front of Wabash switch engine No. 1,325, and was run over and instantly killed. The body was taken to the Morgue.
