Dwight, IL Two Car Collision Kills Five, Mar 1955

TWO CAR COLLISION AT ICY INTERSECTION KILLS FIVE PERSONS.

Dwight, Ill. (AP) - A two-car collision Sunday night killed five persons and critically injured a sixth near Dwight.
Killed were:
MRS. FELECIA POLCZANIS, 29, Chicago;
LAVERNE HEELE, 29, Dwight;
and his passengers, VINCENT L. CRADDOCK, 28, Pontiac;
CLARENCE PETERSON, 30;
and RAYMOND SASSENGER, 35, both of Dwight.
MRS. POLCZANIS was riding with RALPH DENGE, 27, Des Plaines, who was reported in critical condition with a double skull fracture.
Authorities said the two cars collided at an icy intersection of Routes 47 and 66.
Two other cars, unable to stop because of ice, struck the wreckage. No one was injured, however.
