Pontiac, IL Fire, Jul 1870
CHICAGO, July 8.---A large fire broke out Wednesday night at Pontiac, Ill., which destroyed thirteen buildings, involving a loss of $55,000. The principal sufferers are Messrs. Waters & Kinkhead, merchants, $20,000. insured for $10,000; the City Hotel, $3,500; Odd Fellow's building, $3,700; Judge Duff, $2,000; W. B. Lyon, $3,500; J. C. Hartshorn, $2,300, with a large number of smaller sufferers. The origin of the fire is unknown.
