A Fireman Instantly Killed and Several Passengers Sustain Serious Injuries.

By Exclusive Wires to The Patriot.

Valparaiso, Ind., June 26. – The Keystone Limited on the Pittsburg, Fort Wayne and Chicago road was wrecked west of this city this afternoon. Six cars and the locomotive plunged over an embankment. The fireman was buried beneath the debris and instantly killed. The engineer and a score or more of passengers received injuries, but all will recover.

General Floyd KING, of Brooklyn, was among the passengers. He was injured about the leg. The escape of the remaining one hundred or more passengers is considered miraculous. The wreck was caused by a defective rail. The train was running the rate of forty miles an hour when it plunged over the embankment. Cars are piled up one above another while the locomotive is a mass of twisted and broken metal. The track was cleared for traffic this evening.
