Life Lost on Dam 47

Evansville, IN - August 14 (AP)

While nearly 100 workmen looked on, King TICHENOR, a workman on government dam No. 47, near Newburg, IN, was crushed to death today when caught beneath a 5,300 pound crusher hammer used for driving steel piling.

When a cable snapped and permitted the heavy hammer to descend, another workman, Carl Gentry, was caught in the guy wire and jerked 40 feet in the air. He was seriously injured.
