WRECK KILLS FOUR NEAR EUDORA, KAN.
Eudora, Kan. (AP) - A two-car collision Sunday took the lives of four young men, including three seamen from the Olathe Naval Air Station.
Highway patrolman Carl Gray said the highway was clear and visibility was good when the two cars collided about 1:45 a.m., one-half mile east of Eudora.
Killed instantly in the crash were:
GERALD E. PETRYNA, 21, of East Detroit, Mich.;
and ALFRED P. MOORHEAD, of Windham, Ohio - both enlisted men from the nearby Olathe NAS;
and LLOYD B. FERRELL, 21, of Topeka.
Another Navy enlisted man, LAWRENCE T. PERRY, 20, of Gaylord, Mich., died later at a Lawrence, Kan., hospital.
The only survivor, FRED W. POTTER, JR., 21, of Lawrence, a student at the University of Kansas, was reported in critical condition.
Gray said the airmen were traveling in one car and POTTER and FERRELL were riding in the other vehicle.
Eudora is about 80 miles west of Kansas City.
