Killed By Train

Early last Sunday morning Elisha Young of Altamont, and David Hyatt, of Cufa(sic), track walkers for the L & N Railroad, were struck by an engine on the curve below East Bernstadt, both receiving injuries from which they died later.

They had met and stopped to talk. At the time they were standing on one side of the double tracks, while a train was passing on the opposite track and making so much noise that they did not hear an engine that was coming around the curve on their track until it was too late.

They were brought to London immediately for medical attention, but only lived a short time, one dying about 11 o'clock and the other just after 12 o'clock. The bodies were taken to their respective homes for burial.
