5 DIE IN BOMBER CRASH.
Shreveport, La., Jan. 16. -- (AP) -- Five men perished and two others escaped from a flaming medium bomber which crashed on a takeoff from Barksdale Field near here yesterday.
Field officials listed the dead as:
Second Lieut. WILLIAM E. MITCHELL, 22, Cuba, Ala., pilot.
Second Lieut. MELVIN W. KISLINGBURY, 21, Winslow, Ariz.
Second Lieut. WELDON C. RANDALL, 25, San Antonio, Tex., a bombardier-navigation instructor whose mother is Mrs. J. D. Browning and whose widow lives at Shreveport.
Flight Officer FRANK J. KREJIC, JR., 23, Weimar, Tex., son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Krejic, Weimar, Texas.
Staff Sgt. THOMAS G. PAVHNICH, 27, Beaver Falls, Pa.
Those who escaped, believed to have been in the tail positions, were identified as:
Staff Sgt. CLYDE S. MADDOX, radio operator, Gordon, Texas.
Sgt. PHILLIP L. BRINSON, aerial gunner, St. Augustine, Fla.
