Passengers Escape As Airliner Burns

PORTLAND, Me., Aug. 11. (AP)--A Northeast Airlines plane from Boston crashed and burned an the Municipal Airport Thursday night. Everyone aboard--20 passengers and six employes[sic]--escaped safely.

The line's office at the field said the two-engined ship would be a complete loss.

"The left wing's gone and the rest is burning." an employe[sic] said.

The plane was a special flight from Boston.

Three of the employes[sic] were the plane's crew. The others were deadheading.

PLUCKY STEWARDESS--

Stewardess Patricia Donnellan, 23, of North Quincy, Mass., was credited with saving the lives of passengers of a Northeast Arilines Convair airliner crashed and burned at a Portland, Maine, airport. She led the passengers to safety through a rear door when the front exit was blocked by flames.
