Worten, MD Train Wreck, Jul 1898

Railroad Wreck in Maryland.

STILL POND, Md., July 28.---A wrecking train on the Baltimore and Delaware Bay Railroad plunged through a bridge at Worten, this county, to-day, and Fireman John Clark was killed and five men were injured. The morning passenger train found the bridge weakened from heavy rains and sent for the wreckers. As the latter passed slowly over the structure the bridge gave way under its weight and the engine, caboose, and tool car plunged into the river. It is not thought that any of the injured will dies, but all were seriously hurt.
