Pinconning, MI Boiler Explosion, Sept. 1905

DEFECTIVE BOILER CAUSES FIVE DEATHS

BLOWS UP WITHOUT WARNING AND COMPLETELY DESTROYS SAWMILL.

Pinconning, Mich., Sept. 16. - By the explosion of an alleged defective boiler in the stave mill of Edward Jennings here today five men were killed and eight or ten injured, two of them so seriously that they will probably die. The dead:

RICHARD GIFFORD.

BURT BELL.

CHARLES EASTERMAN.

WM. ATLIN.

ELIJAH PETERS.

Easterman and Atlin were married men and leave families. The explosion came without the slightest warning to the workmen and the destruction of the mill was complete. Portions of the wreck were scattered about for several hundred feet.
