FIVE ARE SAVED AS TRAIN STRIKES AUTO
MACHINE SLIDES ALONG IN FRONT OF CAR, THEREBY SAVING OCCUPANTS.
Gobleville, May 29. -- An automobile owned and driven by Ed. Mann was struck by a freight train switching at Pine Grove yesterday, the occupants escaping death by a narrow margin. Mr. Mann, accompanied by four ladies, was crossing the side track and failed to notice that the train crew were switching cars. The automobile was shoved along the road for quite a distance but did not overturn, thus saving the lives of the occupants.
The machine was badly damaged.
