Dupont, MN Tornado, Jun 1919

Dupont, Minn.----Nichol Didlot, a farmer who lived on the outskirts of this village, was killed last night when a tornado demolished his home, wrecked the public school building, the Lutheran church and a half dozen residences. Several persons were slightly injured.

Dumont[sic] is south of Fergus Falls. The storm struck the village shortly before 7 p.m. and razed the eastern part. Many of those were injured when their homes were wrecked. Until late this morning this place was isolated from all wire communication. Citizens are searching the ruins but said that all persons known to have been in the razed buildings have been accounted for.

The storm came from the southwest and is believed to have been the same tornado which swept Fergus Falls, fifty miles northeast of here. Crops in this vicinity, according to reports this morning were badly damaged by the storm.
